Thanh Ngo 1994 Global Fellow

Thanh Ngo was awarded an Echoing Green Fellowship to work on hate crimes in public housing in San Francisco. He assisted public housing tenants with navigating the complex housing rules and helped force the San Francisco Housing Authority to address the conflict between different races in San Francisco Housing developments. During his fellowship, he was housed at the Asian Law Caucus and also headed up their hate crimes program. Thanh has been a criminal prosecutor for about 12 years. He is involved with organizations dealing with hate crimes and victims of violence as well as minority legal organizations. He also has worked part-time with a Vietnamese youth development organization in East Oakland, working with students in middle school to steer them from gang involvement. He teaches a class on Race, Gender and Inequality at San Jose State University.
