Michelle Longosz 1999 Global Fellow
Founded in 1999 by photographer Michelle Longosz, Focus was a youth photography program committed to offering interdisciplinary, photo-based education to young people from economically challenged communities.
Whether it's photographing in the corporate board room or clients' living rooms, rural Alaska or the urban landscape, Michelle Longosz specializes in working closely with clients to create unique, evocative images that capture the essence of a subject. Michelle has worked with a broad range of clients in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors—from Visa to Catholic Charities—as well as a host of individual clients. While pursing her professional photographic work, Michelle has spent over ten years working to create opportunities for urban teens through founding arts programs, public art projects, and direct teaching of photography. Her work has received recognition with the national Coming Up Taller Award, as well as the California Arts Council and Oakland Museum of California. Michelle graduated form Duke University and received her Master’s in Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts.
