Personal Bio

Melissa Marshall has dedicated her career to serving as a change agent in healthcare settings where resources are limited and the solutions must be more creative. Melissa serves as chief executive officer for CommuniCare Health Centers in Davis, California, a federally qualified health center organization that serves one in nine Yolo County residents. Prior to being named CEO, Melissa was chief medical officer for three years. Melissa came to CommuniCare Health Centers from her role as chief medical officer of Community Health Center Network (CHCN), which serves as the network and management services organization for Alameda County’s eight federally qualified health centers. She previously served as associate medical director for Family Care Health Centers, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she provided full-spectrum medical care with an emphasis on maternal and child health. Melissa received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and she completed her family medicine residency at University of California at Davis Medical Center. Melissa, who has served on numerous boards and committees to improve the quality of health care in the safety net, is a 1992 Echoing Green Fellow.
