Personal Bio
John Day is a partner at Rothstein Donatelli Hughes Dahlstrom & Schoenburg, where he practices in the areas of criminal defense, civil litigation, and civil rights litigation. John joined the firm as an associate in 2000, following several years as deputy district attorney in northern New Mexico. John’s family began cattle ranching in New Mexico in the 19th century, and founded the (now-ghost) town of Dayton, NM, in Eddy County. He earned his BA from Harvard University, and his JD from the University of New Mexico. Before working as a lawyer, he was an award-winning investigative reporter covering political corruption in the southern U.S. John has has successfully defended cases involving national security clearance matters, white-collar offenses, homicide, violent crime, and drug offenses, among others. John has also provided legal representation to families and institutions with special legal problems and crisis situations, both domestically and abroad.
