Personal Bio

Baayan Bakari is currently the CEO of Conner Legacy LLC, a web- and mobile-based tech startup based forty miles north of Silicon Valley. Before entering into the field of social media and technology, Baayan was the National Director of Training for the Mentoring Center in Oakland, California, where he was a member of the executive team and managed federal, state, and local budgets. Baayan has also managed several community-based programs, including Oakland Freedom Schools, an initiative of Marian Wright Edelman’s Children’s Defense Fund, and has received numerous honors for his creative approaches to community and youth. In 2010, Baayan was selected by Susan L. Taylor, the former editor-in-chief of Essence magazine, to serve on a national committee to design a national infrastructure that reintegrates former inmates into society.
