Bold Idea: Harness technology to make social impact organizations more effective and efficient by improving their monitoring, evaluation, and management capabilities.

Why I'm Passionate About This: Much of the $1 billion in development assistance allocated by USAID last year was wasted due to antiquated data management and use of poor-quality data. I’ve seen first-hand how good data can transform an organization. While implementing HIV prevention programs in Africa, I helped overhaul an Excel labyrinth with a cloud-based system that vastly improved data, enabling rapid program growth from 5,000 to 50,000 youth per year. Vera Solutions uses the power of data systems, with cloud and mobile technology, to transform the quality and efficiency of an organization’s work, greatly increasing its impact.
