NY Times Magazine Features Philanthropy and Echoing Green Fellows

We were thrilled to see yesterday’s issue of The New York Times Magazine, all about the things we love—social entrepreneurship, microfinance, philanthropy and how to change the world by giving.

New Entrepreneurs: Now on iTunes

When we helped Social Edge launch the New Entrepreneurs podcast series several months ago, we had no idea what to expect. Each week, Patrick O’heffernan conducts a short interview with an Echoing Green Fellow. We’ve heard great anecdotal feedback from our listeners, but this week, we were astonished to discover that Apple has selected the New Entrepreneurs series as a feature on the homepage of their podcast store (thanks to Jason for the screenshot).

Another Must Read: The Power of Unreasonable People

George Bernard Shaw once wrote, “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.” Those unreasonable people are now called social entrepreneurs, the ones we at Echoing Green work to identify and support everyday.  Thus, we were elated to hear about a book written by John Elkington and Pamela Hartigan, titled The Power of Unreasonable People: How Social Entrepreneurs Create Markets That Change The World. The book is a fantastic read, as it describes how these individuals are changing the way the world look
