Echoing Green would like to congratulate board member, Patrick Corvington, who, today, who was nominated by President Obama to the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Corporation for National and Community Service.

2009 Echoing Green Fellow Jacob Colker has been causing quite a buzz among the smart phone community.

Last week, the New York Times ran an amazing story on 2007 Echoing Green Fellow Chris Myers Asch, founder of the Public Service Academy. It seems that not only the mainstream media, but the Washington establishment are beginning to follow Chris’s lead: as of this writing, the legislation to create the Public Service Academy has 23 Senate sponsors and 123 House sponsors.

Last week, President-elect Obama launched a new website, USAService.org, to inspire and organize people to plan service projects for Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 19th).  The site features an interactive event search to find service ideas in your neighborhood.

Is sixty-one the new thirty? So it would seem for the fifteen winners of the 2008 Purpose Prize, an award for social entrepreneurs over the age of sixty. Civic Ventures awards the Purpose Prize annually to encourage and empower people to start “Encore Careers”—using the skills they’ve built over a lifetime of work to create innovative social change.
