A must have resource for anyone on the social entrepreneurship track is Enterprising Ideas, a program launched by PBS and NOW. The site features case stories about the paths of people who are creating change and how you can get involved.
One part of the site, Project Enterprise, began as a contest seeking someone who was using business ideas to tackle social problems. Through a nomination process, more than one hundred people submitted ideas, from locations including New Zealand, South Africa, and Latvia. Project Enterprise recently announced the winners: Jason McKinsty and Alison Riback, founders of Materials Matter, an organization that coordinates donations of building supplies for other nonprofits. Their progress will be chronicled in the Project Enterprise blog, and you can follow what Jason and Alison are doing to launch their idea and make Materials Matter work.
We love the idea of this contest and will be checking the Project Enterprise blog frequently to see the progress of these two new social entrepreneurs. Best of luck to Jason and Alison!

Another great competition
Another great competition platform inspiring social change is Ashoka's changemakers. I have been surprised by some of the selected winners but I am impressed with the number of entrants they are recruiting. I love the concept of competition to spur high-impact social change.
