Location of Impact: India
Bold Idea: Treat victims of road accidents within minutes of a collision by creating India’s first community-driven emergency medical response system.
Why I'm Passionate About This: India suffers the highest number of road accident deaths in the world. Eighty percent of victims don’t receive care within the “Golden Hour” when chances of survival are highest. I lost my sixteen-year-old cousin this way; alive for an hour after the accident, he needed medical attention, but no ambulance could reach him. Losing my cousin pushed me to do something about the severe lack of basic emergency care in India. SaveLife Foundation empowers communities to act with a three-tiered system: volunteers as first responders, police providing trauma support in transit, and an emergency room prepared to administer lifesaving care.
