Bold Idea: Prepare India’s youth for post-graduate life by providing employability training, leadership mentoring, and career services.

Why We Are So Passionate: Only twenty percent of India’s twelve million college graduates each year are considered employable—that’s over eight million educated people without anything to do. At a microfinance venture in rural India, we hired over 100 high school drop-outs per month to staff our field office. We trained them in basic computer and accounting skills, paid them well, and offered opportunities for growth. The relationships we built with local field staff inspired us to explore better ways to prepare India’s youth for employment. Medha delivers employability education to existing college and high school students through established public institutions, and will shift the skill paradigm in India.
