Pioneer a comprehensive approach to reconstruct the rural health care system in war-torn Liberia with an efficient and effective training and outreach model for community health workers.
At age 9, Raj Panjabi narrowly escaped a bloody civil war in his home country of Liberia. As a refugee in America, Raj worked hard against steep odds, training as a physician at Johns Hopkins and Harvard, where he is currently a Clinical Fellow as well as a Resident Physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University. Fifteen years after leaving, Raj returned to Liberia to serve those he had left behind. Raj first worked as a policy advisor to the Liberian government, and then began building Tiyatien Health with other war survivors.
