The basic mission of the MMG is to provide performances, instruction and professional development in multicultural music as a tool to promote global understanding, cultural awareness, and academic achievement. The presentations, training and instruction will provide the constituents the opportunity to experience artistic growth and cultural awareness through the acquisition of specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to a more harmonious society and a better lifelong enjoyment of the arts.
Luis Mojica is a native of Puerto Rico and musician and educator by heart. Luis completed his doctoral degree in music education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and also studied composition independently with Latin pianist Charlie Palmieri, and Pulitzer Prize winner David Del Tredici. He worked with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music as Artistic Director and Dean of Academic Affairs in the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. He currently works as an arts and educational consultant and serves as the Executive Director of the Multicultural Music Group (MMG).
