Bold Idea

Improve math literacy among urban youth by creating innovative, fun, and effective educational tools that harness the power of the NBA.

Summary
NBA Math Hoops, a project of Learn Fresh Inc., has partnered with the NBA to create a supplemental math curriculum for middle school students, centered around a basketball board game. The game and robust collection of correlating math activities are aligned with and informed by the Common Core State Standards. By making math relevant and relatable, NBA Math Hoops hopes to improve math scores and instill a love of education in the hearts of youth across the country.
Experience

Khalil Fuller is a young social entrepreneur with a passion for driving positive change in education. Growing up through adversity in Los Angeles, he witnessed his best friends become disengaged from school, especially from math, and he vowed to do something about it. His organization, NBA Math Hoops, makes math fun for youth and keeps them engaged and on-track. Khalil is on leave from Brown University where he is a QuestBridge Scholar double majoring in Education and Social Innovation.
