bold idea

Transform Bronx public schools and communities through the power of project-based arts learning.

organization overview

DreamYard collaborates with Bronx youth, families, schools, and communities to build pathways to equity and opportunity through the arts and social justice programs. DreamYard’s yearlong arts and social justice pedagogy-based programs help young people to develop their artistic voice, nurture their desire to make change, and help them cultivate the skills necessary to reach positive goals. By committing to sustained learning opportunities along an educational pathway, with 55 partnering K-12 public schools, and with its own DreamYard Prep High School and at the DreamYard Art Center in Morrisania, DreamYard supports young people as they work toward higher learning, meaningful careers, and social action. DreamYard is also the founding partner, with Big Picture Learning and the Dimon Foundation, of Here to Here, a Bronx-based career pathways organization dedicated to building employer, post-secondary, high school, and CBO partnerships. Here to Here aligns all key stakeholders along the shared goal of launching young people successfully into the labor market, demonstrates specific strategies and approaches that both prepare students for future careers and support employers in finding the talent they need, and translates proven strategies into policy and practice so that ALL students and employers benefit.
