Community Improvement & Economic Development
Men on public assistance require tremendous support, nurturing, and advocacy if they are expected to enter and remain in the working world. Sadly, because of their appearance, not their lack of skills, these men often have to accept lower paying and menial jobs. Career Gear fills the gap between job-training programs and employment by providing men with the interview clothing, motivation, and follow-up support that helps them get jobs and keep jobs. New clothes are just the beginning. Equally important is giving these men the confidence and support needed to see themselves as successful individuals. Career Gear brings former clients togather to discuss issues regarding job retention, budgeting money and time, stress management, and job advancement.
