The I Do Foundation helps engaged couples bring a charitable focus to their marriage by uniting the joy and wealth of wedding celebrations with effective nonprofit organizations. The I Do Foundation’s recommended nonprofit partners include education programs, family empowerment projects, community development work, civil and human rights initiatives, health promotion efforts, and environmental protection programs. The I Do Foundation has made a special commitment to support organizations working for low-income and underserved populations. In addition to its recommended partners, the I Do Foundation also donates to organizations suggested by its couples. The I Do Foundation invites every engaged couple to share their celebration with a broader community. By adding a charitable element to their wedding, engaged couples can affirm their commitment as a family to a lifetime of community involvement.
Biography
Bethany Robertson is an experienced social entrepreneur with a successful track record of starting and running innovative nonprofit organizations. As the co-founder of the I Do Foundation, Bethany created the opportunity for hundreds of thousands of engaged couples to share some of their wedding spending with charity. Bethany’s work with the I Do Foundation helped to generate millions of dollars in new resources for charity. This culture-changing idea was featured in media outlets such as the New York Times, Newsweek, USA Today, Parade Magazine, the CBS Early Show, NPR and Fast Company. In 2003, Bethany was part of a team that launched the Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL), a national political training institute that develops diverse leaders who can advance progressive political and policy change. Prior to her work with the I Do Foundation and CPL, Bethany was the Executive Director of College Bound and a consultant for the Community Technology Foundation of California and the Federal Head Start Program.
