SAAJHA builds leadership capacity of School Management Committee (SMC’s), a body consisting of parents and teachers, to ensure accountability for children’s learning in primary public schools of India. SAAJHA supports SMC’s to create forums for parent teacher interaction. It also wants to facilitate a coalition of SMC’s to create national demand for good governance in schools. SAAJHA is a Hindustani word that means collaboration, the organization core value. SAAJHA aims to impact 100,000 schools by 2025.

Personal Bio

Deeply inspired by life of his school dropout mother, Abhishek is missioned to facilitate 600,000 women leaders at the grassroots. At SAAJHA he is responsible for human resources, volunteer raising, government partnerships, and operations. He majored in literature at Hans Raj College, University of Delhi, and has been awarded a post-graduate diploma in liberal arts from Young India Fellowship in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania. As a Gandhi Fellow through the Kaivalya Education Foundation, Abhishek worked closely with public school principals. An activist by instinct, Abhishek won the college student union election with huge margins and has led a mass campaign addressing menstrual taboos.
