Bold Idea: Increase democratic participation through a platform that matches voters to the candidates that share their views.
Why I'm Passionate About This: In the U.S., presidential elections see over 60 percent turnout while local elections numbers languish in the low single digits—that’s 100 million Americans dropping out of the democratic process. In 2008, I worked on a presidential campaign followed by eighteen local races in New Haven, CT. Serious issues were at stake in New Haven, yet races turned on a coin flip: a twelve-vote loss, a nineteen-vote win. I want to inspire local knowledge and participation around issues that matter. ElectNext matches a voter’s unique profile to information on issues, elections, and candidates, making information about politics accessible and actionable.
