Edthena
Adam Geller
Program Area: Education
Location of Impact: United States
Bold Idea: Improve teacher performance by connecting teachers to an online platform for professional development that provides flexible access to support from colleagues and expert coaches.
Why I'm Passionate About This: Though we spend $4,000 per teacher annually on teacher improvement in the U.S., when surveyed, the majority of teachers prioritized “more support” over “higher pay.” In my work on national strategy for Teach For America, I envisioned what a system of good support for teachers across the country might look like and how it could be achieved with limited resources. In the context of the right supports and expectations, a good teacher can become great, but the solution must be cost-efficient and scalable to succeed. Edthena connects teachers to coaches through an online platform, enabling an educator to upload videos of lessons and receive high-quality feedback and coaching from experts.
