Bold Idea: Empower Palestinian women to be economically self-sufficient by giving them the tools to be entrepreneurs.

Moment of Obligation: Palestinian women are 10 percent of Israel’s population and 43 percent have 12+ years of education, yet 80 percent are unemployed. As a Muslim Palestinian woman from a disenfranchised community, I was lucky to have family support me in becoming financially independent and professionally ambitious. Palestinian women face double discriminiation: as Palestinians in Israel and as women in Palestinian society. Entrepreneurship is a powerful way to empower women socially and economically. Through trainings and support, Cactus will incubate women-owned ventures, providing them with the necessary resources and education to launch successful businesses.
