Tutu Alicante Op-Ed Published in Foreign Policy

2007 Echoing Green Fellow Tutu Alicante discusses the resource curse that plagues Equatorial Guinea in the op-ed he co-wrote entitled “Resource Cursed,” which was featured in the August 26th edition of Foreign Policy.

The article describes the increasing gap in Equatorial Guinea’s distribution of wealth, which is highly due to its oil relations with U.S. corporations.  According to the article, "Most Equatorial Guineans are living on less than a dollar a day."  Tutu Alicante and Lisa Misol argues that more transparency surrounding U.S. government and Equatorial Guinea dealings will hold the country's leaders more accountable to the health and education of its people.
