Toni Blackman, How Music Can Heal
Toni Blackman, a 1999 Echoing Green Fellow and international champion of hip-hop culture, was recently interviewed on New York’s WCBS’s morning show. As hip-hop ambassador with the U.S. State Department’s American Music Abroad Program, she is on her way to the Congo to demonstrate the power of music to heal--even in a war-torn country.

Toni Blackman is not only an ambassador for musical, but also an activist for hip hop activism which encourages social responsibility. Her work has great influence and she has also shared stage with big name artists such as Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan and also Rickie Lee Jones. The world can use more of Ms. Blackman.
