Social Media for Social Impact

Organizations like WITNESS and Charity: Water are using Web 2.0 tools to create a more inclusive and participatory form of social change. Christian Monitor correspondent, Jina Moore discusses the ways new-media are used by non-profits in her article "How Charities Harness Social Media for a Social Impact."

Social media incorporates story-telling, creativity, innovation, and sheer savviness to engage new audiences.  Non-profits are using new-media as a vehicle for social change--mobilizing more people with broader interests to have a greater impact.

This year, we created a "visual press release" to announce our 2009 Echoing Green Fellows.  In "How Charities Harness Social Media for a Social Impact," our own Lara Galinsky talks a little about how we are also incorporating social media into Echoing Green initiatives.
