At first glance, the recent influx of social sector opportunities that have been passing over my desk seemed completely out of sync with what I was reading in the paper. After all, unemployment still sits at 9.1% and over 14 million people are out of work. What’s more, on Friday the US Department of Labor announced that September job loss in the public sector was drastic.

But looking beneath the grim numbers from the US Department of Labor, I saw one very encouraging number. Over the past month, employers have added 103,000 jobs, almost double the amount some predictive analyses expected.

In other words, jobs are growing, even if unemployment has not caught up.

From my position at Echoing Green, I am literally seeing new openings for talented individuals looking for a position that is right for them and good for the world opening every day (particularly in education). Below are some of my favorites from our Fellows and other friends:
