Updated! – Cheryl Dorsey and Van Jones on CSPAN
Echoing Green is set to take over Capitol Hill tomorrow, as President Cheryl Dorsey and 1994 Fellow Van Jones are slated to testify before the House Education and Labor Committee. The hearing, titled Renewing America through National Service and Volunteerism, will “examine the importance of national and community service in meeting critical economic needs across the country.” Cheryl and Van, along with recording artist Usher and several others, will stand as witnesses to the power of civic engagement and the ways community involvement can help reinvigorate America.
Set your Tivo to record CSPAN at 10am tomorrow or watch it live online. Let us know what you think of the hearing in our comments section. How do you feel about social innovation and service playing a key role in the Obama administration? How can we boost community service in our neighborhoods?

Inspiration
Yesterday, I was living my daily routine in my high school, while at it I sat down and watch "Doctor Diaries"--a video presented by my Health Science and Technology teacher. At the moment I was only feeling sorry for the intense life of a medical student, but then one of the 'future' doctors in the video truly grabbed my attention--Cheryl. Despite of her prestigious studies at Havard Medical School she decided to set her residency aside to do community outreach. I cannot express the inspiration that arrived when I watch how she evolved into an important leader of our nation. Nonetheless, I want to express my admiration for Ms. Cheryl Dorsey and my hope of becoming a humble, corageous, leader of this society--just like she has. If granted the opportunity to meet her, I will be very fortunate.
