Purpose in the New Year
"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do." Rumi
It’s that time of year again. Time to make those unruly resolutions. So easy to make, yet so easy to break. Statistics show that one-third of people break their resolutions within the first week and nearly half are through with them in the first month. We tend to focus resolutions around changing a habit, a personality trait, or trying something new. But, somehow, they are burdensome and make us feel badly when we don’t fulfill them.
So, what if this year, we don’t make them? Instead, we focus on finding inspiration, purpose, and meaning in every moment of our personal and professional lives. We consider the new year as an opportunity to reflect and add meaning to our actions. What if we took this coming year as a chance to explore a path that aligns what satisfies not only our heads, but also our hearts.
Many of us want to make an impact on this world, better the lives’ of others and create revolutions that will change the way we live. But living a life with meaning isn’t just about starting a new organization, working for a nonprofit, or going to another country to work on the ground. It can be, but more than anything it’s about finding those passions and being bold enough to pursue them.
So, with this new year and new decade upon us, how will you live a more purposeful life? One with enthusiasm, reflection, and joy. How will you seek inspiration and inspire others? Tell us, what does this new year have in store for you?
