Moving Windmills

Trust yourself and believe, whatever happens, don’t give up.” – William Kamkwamba

Join us tomorrow evening for our first #EGBookClub. We will be discussing The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Brian Mealer.  With humor, humility, and some serious creativity, William tells us the story of his life, the famine that affected the lives’ of so many in Malawi, and his determination not to let any circumstance hold him back.

He is a former student of the African Leadership Academy, a pan-African high school in South Africa, and a 2007 TED Global Fellow. He was invited to share his story at the 2008 World Economic Forum on Africa. William brought electricity, running water, and solar energy to his home. All of this started from a library book and an imagination.

If you haven’t finished the book—don’t worry! We’ll be discussing larger themes of resourcefulness, overcoming adversity, and work on purpose.

To catch up and learn more, follow Wiliam’s story in his own voice:

Finally, we share with you the preview of a short documentary on William’s journey from Malawi, to the streets of New York, to some of the largest windfarms in California. We look forward to diving into this book and William's story with you tomorrow!
