Google.org Supports Echoing Green Fellow CV Madhukar
So, you already know Google revolutionized the way we use the internet, but did you know they are changing the world of philanthropy as well? Through Google.org, the company has promised to contribute “1 percent of Google's equity and profits in some form, as well as employee time, to address some of the world's most urgent problems.” With a multi-billion dollar enterprise, that’s a whole lot of potential.
In fact, just this week, Google.org contributed $25 million in new grants and investments across the globe, $5 million of which went to organizations in India. One of the beneficiaries? Echoing Green’s own CV Madhukar, founder and director of PRS Legislative Research. Google.org awarded CV an $880,000 grant under their “Inform and Empower to Improve Public Services” initiative. Selected as a 2005 Echoing Green Fellow, CV has been doing great work creating a well informed, transparent, and participatory legislative process in India. Commenting on this award, CV said, "there is a need for institutional mechanisms to support our Members of Parliament. We are grateful to Google.org for the support they have provided to PRS to take our work to the next level."
Congratulations CV!
