Dan Ravicher Discusses Gene Patent Victory on PBS Newshour
In a landmark ruling last week, a district court judge determined that patents on genes associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer are invalid. This is the first time a court has found patents on genes unlawful and represents a major victory for plaintiffs represented by the ACLU and the Public Patent Foundation (founded by 2003 Echoing Green Fellow Dan Ravicher).
PBS Newshour ran the following segment April 2nd which includes an interview with Dan Ravicher and Kenneth Chahine. Watch the clip below for an interesting debate on the merits of gene patenting.
