Cheryl Dorsey Featured in Chronicle of Philanthropy
Echoing Green President Cheryl Dorsey and Paul Schmitz, chief executive of Public Alliess co-authored the article, "Social Innovation Fund Sends Important Signal to Grant Makers," which was featured in this week's Chronicle of Philanthropy. Cheryl and Paul served on the Obama transition team and helped inform the administration's work in social innovation.
According to Cheryl and Paul, "What has been most important is that the White House is not simply seeking to send money to worthy nonprofit groups but also trying to build a better financial marketplace for innovative nonprofit organizations so they can better expand and sustain effective solutions to local and national needs." The Social Innovation Fund will directly benefit a handful of selected nonprofits, but The White House Office of Social Innovation Fund and Civic Participation are hoping to share the lessons learned in this grant-making process. In turn, nonprofit groups and philanthropists will hopefully "use such lessons to create financing models that build more robust, effective organizations."
