We're taking a short break, and will return January 8th, 2009 to answer more of your questions about creating a career with impact.  Happy holidays!

Congratulations on Making Dan's Challenge

Thanks to Dan Weiss and more than ten online donors for helping Echoing Green raise $10,000 for Be Bold.  We are thrilled with the result and so grateful to have such excellent supporters.

Echoing Green Featured as Holiday Charity of Choice at Wired and Riders

We were honored to be highlighted as an innovative charity by the WIRED Store on West 18th Street in New York City. This is the fourth year that WIRED has put together a Holiday store, and the first year that they’ve included a philanthropic initiative. We’re thrilled to be among the distinguished list that also includes Charity:Water, the International Rescue Committee, and Forest Ethics

Echoing Green Fellows Find the Real Bottom Line at Pop!Tech

With all the talk of triple bottom lines, the Pop!Tech conference offered a refreshing blast of simplicity—in addition to the warm glow that comes from being near so many Echoing Green Fellows at once.

Mulago Foundation exec Kevin Starr offered this clear message to conference participants: "Whether you are a for-profit or not-for-profit should be determined by what will give you the biggest impact…My job is to buy impact. To get the biggest bang for my philanthropic buck."

Echoing Green Fellows Connect in Philadelphia

Last weekend, more than seventy Echoing Green Fellows descended on the city of Philadelphia for our 2008 Current Fellows Conference.  There was plenty of instruction, inspiration, fellowship, and food that once again reminded us all of the important world-changing work that our community does.

Check out the short slideshow below, or join our Facebook page to see the conference video.

Visit the Shokay Holiday Trunk Show in NYC November 18-19

2008 Echoing Green Fellows Carol Chyau and Marie So are coming to New York City and exhibiting the products of Shokay (one of their model social enterprises). We're looking forward to stopping by to check out these fabrics and products all made from yak down.

Shokay has a collection of apparel, accessories for kids & adults, and home products made from yak own sourced from Tibetan herders. Yak down is a luxury fiber recognized by fiber experts to be comparable in softness and warmth to cashmere (seriously!).

Be sure to check out this week's edition of the Be Bold Podcast (just published today!). This week, Echoing Green Vice President Lara Galinsky and host Britt Bravo tackle the following two questions:

I recently quit from an organization where I worked for the last 11 years. I haven’t decided what to do next and am considering doing consultancy work. How do I market myself given that I’ve never done this kind of work before?
