In 2006, Echoing Green launched our Be Bold initiative, aimed at encouraging young people to pursue a life as a change-maker. We wrote the book Be Bold: Create a Career with Impact because we knew that Echoing Green Fellows have something to offer young people who are seeking examples of careers that embodied personal meaning and social change. Now, we’re ready to write another book, and we’re asking for your help: we are looking for more stories about people who live their lives purposefully and develop their careers through the search for significant impact. If that sounds like you or someone you know, please keep reading! You can submit stories about yourself by clicking here; stories about someone you know can be submitted here. (You can also use the buttons below.)
Please note that all submissions must be received by January 31, 2009.

Read on for more information about the main considerations for the new book:
(1) Specific target market: Our target audience for this book is U.S.-based college students or graduates from the ages of 20 to 26 who either see themselves as change-makers or who long to realize that vision, but have had social, family, or other factors lead them in another direction.
(2) Concept focus – creative tension between head & heart: The focus of the book, and therefore the focus of the stories, is a suggestion that the practice of listening to your heart and harnessing those messages to the messages of your head (where patterns are discerned, options are evaluated, and strategies are formed) leads to a special form of action (hustle) that drives a life of meaningful impact. We want stories that illustrate specific, relatable examples of making sense of confusing signals in order to find clarity and direction in the early stages of career formation – particularly in unexpected ways.
(3) Looking outside of our circle: We are looking to meet people outside of our immediate network – hence our interest in reaching out to you. We are really looking for unlikely suspects: people who don’t necessarily see themselves as heroes or leaders. They just know that they need to find the balance and alignment between their hearts and heads, and that they want to have social impact their way.
This is a chance to share your knowledge and experiences – a chance to use your story as education for others, in a potentially life-changing way. Again, you can share your story by clicking here; you can nominate other people in your life for inclusion in the book by clicking here.
