Bold Idea: Level the playing field for disadvantaged students in India by removing the economic and social barriers to attending top colleges.

Why We're Passionate About This: In India, admission to an elite college is the surest path to rise out of poverty. Yet with admission rates of less than two percent, these schools are out of reach for most students without access to expensive tutoring. While studying at one such college, we became friends with a student who had taught himself math and science from borrowed books and overcame tremendous odds to get into school. He inspired us to act. Avanti identifies high-potential candidates for top schools and helps them beat the odds with free entrance exam preparation and mentorship, enabling them to be India’s future leaders.
