Why do you do what you do?

wdydwyd sign: To renew the world.

If there is one truth in life it is that change is constant and inevitable. However, we must be proactive to create the change we hope to experience. The world is continuously renewed and we can choose to accept it as it comes, or we can take steps now to create the results we desire.

What drew you to work at Echoing Green?

I first heard of Echoing Green through a close friend who had volunteered during the launch of the Be Bold campaign. I was attracted by EG's commitment to finding the next generation of social change makers and the idea that taking a risk on smart, talented individuals produces a lasting social return.

What book are you currently reading?

Slaughterhouse Five. I realized recently that I never read it and as a Vonnegut fan, and fellow University of Chicago Alum, I thought I’d better.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

Since I've lived in New York for under a year, I try to get out and enjoy the city as much as possible. I love spending time with friends and being spontaneous.

When was your last Be Bold moment?

I would have to say moving to New York without a job or a place to live. I felt in my gut that this was where I belonged—both as an individual and for my career—and took a chance. I'm thrilled with how things have turned out on both fronts.

In the next month, I plan to…

Visit my parents in Hawaii and my extended family in Texas.

Any pets?

I grew up with an adorable beagle named Kipling. I love dogs and want another one someday, but right now I'm looking to get something small. Maybe a hamster. Or a turtle.
