Open Position: Director of Technology and Digital Media

ABOUT THE POSITION
Echoing Green is looking for an entrepreneurial and mission-driven person to develop, execute and manage all of Echoing Green’s online and technology functions. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in website development, technology oversight and digital marketing. In the short-term, as Echoing Green expands its mission and engages in an organizational rebrand, the Director of Technology and Digital Media will drive the relaunch of the echoinggreen.org website, serve as a member on the rebrand team, as well as manage ongoing activities such as @echoinggreen twitter account, Facebook page, and other digital media projects and campaigns. This position will report directly to the senior vice president.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop the strategy and lead the relaunch of the Echoing Green website to transform the site from an information source to an online platform
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Echoing Green website, ensuring that the site is effectively meeting its goals
• Lead critical electronic marketing campaigns and communications efforts, such as e-newsletters, major email campaigns, video projects, and key organizational announcements (e.g., announcement of the new class of Echoing Green Fellows)
• Write and edit website content for the website, blog, and newsletter, creating and editing digital images and photography as needed. Lead the strategy and execution of the organization’s social media efforts, managing the use of Echoing Green’s Twitter and Facebook efforts, among others
• Serve as the external face for Echoing Green’s technology and website relationships, developing and cultivating technology partnerships. Track and report on Echoing Green’s digital media performance metrics and manage Google AdWords efforts, facilitating meetings with internal stakeholders to track and report performance
• Partner with Echoing Green staff, ensuring that technology is being used to effectively drive organizational performance – sample projects include partnering with the Echoing Green Fellowship team to support the development of a new fellowship application website and working with the Knowledge Management Associate on information systems and salesforce strategies
• Oversee office technical support including networking and infrastructure, computer hardware, and software problems
• Manage and deliver other communication projects as needed (e.g., Powerpoint decks, press releases)
• Manage a staff member (part-time) and external technology and digital media vendors
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS AND COMPENTENCIES
• 5+ years of relevant work experience and a demonstrated record of leading successful technology projects, including website relaunches
• Passion for Echoing Green’s mission, with a commitment to social entrepreneurship and next generation talent
• Interest in and familiarity with all communications functions (e.g., branding, marketing, design, etc.)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders
• Strong writing and editing skills (especially for blogging and social media)
• Skilled in a variety of software programs including image and video editing as well as Content Management Systems (preferably Drupal) to manage websites
• Superior project management skills with a demonstrated outcomes-orientation and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and committed to meeting deadlines and creating and improving processes
• High degree of entrepreneurialism and a energetic spirit, with ability to work well in teams as well as independently
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS

Open Position: Director of Development at Echoing Green

ABOUT THE POSITION
While the organization has been in existence for over 23 years, the new director will have a mandate to help the organization grow beyond its core Fellowship program, helping Echoing Green’s offerings become more robust and catalytic. The ideal candidate will come to the table eager to develop and execute a funding strategy that supports the expanded scope and vision for the organization. This person will report directly to the senior vice president, the director of development will lead the organization’s resource development efforts to support Echoing Green’s work, with a particular focus on individual donors, foundations and corporate funders.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Meeting the annual development goal of roughly $5 million, with a goal of doubling the budget over the next 3-5 years as well as undertaking a significant capital campaign focused on building a social entrepreneurship fellowship fund.
• Laying the foundation for long-term success through managing a strong team of four, serving as a resource to that team, and collaborating effectively across the organization.
• Developing the strategic plan and vision for the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization, including the development of a fund model, as well as designing cultivation strategies and innovative initiatives to build broader bases of support from Echoing Green’s stakeholder community.
• Support and manage Echoing Green’s Social Investment Council, a network of nearly 100 socially conscious young leaders from the private sector who actively support Echoing Green’s mission to invest in and support social entrepreneurs.
• Manage the relationship with the Echoing Green Board of Directors, owning the day-to-day communications and generating continued support for fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with engaged philanthropists, leveraging their skills and knowledge on behalf of both Echoing Green and its fellows, and developing meaningful events and roundtables for the organization’s philanthropic community.
• Leading the development of a new and innovating funding strategy, with the goal of using new technology and innovative thinking to re-energize fundraising efforts.
• Serving as a member of the organization’s leadership team, providing input on issues and decisions that impact the operations and growth of Echoing Green.
• Building relationships with new potential individual, foundation, and corporate investors.
• Writing letters of intent, grant applications, and grant reports.
• Conducting and coordinating research into prospective investors and funding sources.
• Coordinating development strategy and efforts with the Board, the Development, helping internal and external stakeholders effectively communicate both the vision and accomplishments of the organization.

Open Position: Special Assistant to the President

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Special Assistant to the President will be responsible for providing administrative, research and project support to Echoing Green President Cheryl Dorsey. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, highly organized self-starter with a demonstrated passion for social entrepreneurship and social change. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, previous experience balancing multiple tasks and deadlines, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Researching, writing and editing: Research, write and edit a range of reports, presentations, speeches, and correspondence; requires the ability to conduct relevant background research and carefully customize messages for a variety of audiences
• Meeting scheduling and preparation: Schedule internal and external meetings, oftentimes juggling competing priorities; collaborate with other staff members to successfully coordinate schedules; provide background research in preparation for meetings
• Email and phone correspondence: Communicate via email and phone with various audiences by identifying those items requiring priority attention and responding appropriately
• Travel arrangements: Assist the president with coordinating travel plans
• Administrative support: Manage the president’s contacts database
• Provide special project support, as needed
Additional Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree, with at least two years of professional experience

Open Position: Senior Associate, Alumni Programs
ABOUT THE POSITION
For over two decades, Echoing Green has provided promising leaders with early stage funding and support to launch groundbreaking social change organizations. We now have nearly 500 alumni fellows at the helm of important initiatives, movements and corporations around the world. Our primary goal in crafting a new alumni program is to enhance and dramatically increase their social impact.
The senior associate will help develop a strategic plan for our alumni efforts, and then quickly move to implement that plan. This staff member will work alongside two other associates who support currently-funded fellows and a coordinator responsible for team-wide data and event management. The senior associate reports to the director of fellow and alumni programs.
The ideal candidate is eager to operate and execute, and also impassioned about the potential to align fellow and alumni programs with Echoing Green’s broader social change agenda.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Planning – Work quickly to develop a specific, goal-oriented, multi-year plan for alumni programming, and meet specific targets over time. The plan will likely include a market segmentation of our current alumni and goals for each cohort.
Alumni Engagement – Connect and re-connect directly to Echoing Green alumni from 1987 to the present. Develop and support an Alumni Advisory Council.
Program Management –Directly manage support programs for alumni, possibly including developing an online community, networking events, and alumni interest groups by topic/geography. Track and report out on goals.
Partnership Development – Identify and develop organizational partnerships (such as with universities, professional service firms, or other nonprofits) that would be of benefit to fellows.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree + seven (7) years experience, or graduate degree and equivalent. This is a full-time position based in New York City. Echoing Green offers a competitive compensation package, with benefits, commensurate with experience. Start date is October 2010.
