Events Associate, Development and Fellowship Programs
Echoing Green seeks a passionate and detail-oriented Events Associate, with 3-5 years of relevant experience, to manage our fundraising and programmatic events. The Associate will work across teams to coordinate all aspects of event programming, recruitment and logistics, as well as develop strategy for managing data and contacts within the purview of the role
ABOUT THE POSITION
Echoing Green is in an exciting period of organizational advancement. Our new strategic growth plan calls for increased development goals and impact metrics across all departments. This new role will be essential in realizing this growth. This is a fantastic position for a career-oriented person who is passionate about nonprofit event planning and interested in opportunities for high-level experience with senior management, major institutional and individual donors, and Echoing Green Fellows and Alumni. The ideal candidate, then, is eager to strategize and execute, and also impassioned about the potential to create events that satisfy all stakeholders in accordance with our broader social change agenda. There will be two program assistants and one development coordinator to support these events.
Event Management
Currently, our calendar includes three to four major Fellow Program conferences, five smaller, upscale donor engagement dinners, a few Social Investment Council (Young Professional Civic Engagement) programmed events, and one annual fundraising gala. For these events, the Associate will:

Create robust programming, managing multiple goals simultaneously, with equal attention across stakeholders – i.e., Fellows and Alumni, donors, thought leaders, civic engagement program constitutents and other guests

Manage the invitation and recruitment process, including all event communications
-
Direct all planning logistics – including working with vendors, arranging travel and lodging for attendees, and building thoughtful space arrangements

Maintain expenses within approved budgets; manage reimbursement process

Act as lead on-site support during all events
Data Management
- Design and execute event closing/post-mortem process
- Generate content and send out acknowledgements and surveys
- Analyze data and report up and out on event feedback and suggest ideas for future iterations
- Manage external messaging of event success, including blog and social media posts
Requirements
- Passion for Echoing Green’s mission, with a commitment to social entrepreneurship and harnessing next generation talent.

Demonstrated experience planning high-impact large and small scale events (conference planning and donor engagement event experience preferred)

Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

Demonstrated excellence managing data, ideally with a relationship management focus; salesforce.com or other CRM database experience a plus

Attention to detail; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with multiple stakeholder types

Program and Data Assistant
Echoing Green seeks an enterprising and detail-oriented Program and Data Assistant to support our Fellowship and Alumni team. This team manages the search, selection, and support of an incredible group of promising social entrepreneurs. The Program and Data Assistant provides operational and administrative support to the entire team, and provides some direct administrative support to the Director of Fellowship and Alumni Programs.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Every year, Echoing Green identifies approximately 30 incredible, ambitious, exciting potential leaders and then offers them two years of funding and support. The Program and Data Assistant is responsible for all aspects of data collection and management for the Fellowship and Alumni Team, logistical support to social entrepreneurs, and operational support for our annual Fellowship application process.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, team-oriented, eager problem solver. They are also willing to learn quickly, contribute thoughtfully, and be an integral part of a small and entrepreneurial team. In essence: You’re not afraid to say yes to jobs both big and small, you’re always on the lookout for ways to make processes more efficient, and you’re driven by the opportunity to learn new skills, as well as serve the broader mission of supporting promising social change makers tackling the world’s biggest challenges.
Responsibilities
Application and Selection Support – 40%
- Support the highly-detailed process of gathering applications and monitoring the judging/review process using our online application system
- Manage applicant data from first point of contact to distributing pertinent information to judges
- Provide high quality customer-service support to applicants attempting to apply to Echoing Green throughout the application process
Data Support – 20%
- Act as database administrator for the Fellowship and Alumni team’s usage of Salesforce.com, including developing a deep understanding of how to best utilize the tool
- Maintain and update all fellowship and alumni related records
- Work with Senior Associates on special projects related to data collection and analysis using Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, and other tools as needed.
- Work with Echoing Green’s Senior Associate for Knowledge Management to be forward-thinking about how to use data and systems to improve processes and decision making
Operational Support - 20%
- Process all Fellow and Alumni stipends and reimbursements, as well as tracking and recording all payments
- Manage the process of recommending Fellows and Alumni for contests and awards; provide support on letters of recommendation
- Along with other members of the team, provide logistical support for various gatherings and events, including our Interview Week, New Fellows Retreats and All Fellows Conferences.
Administrative Support for Director of Fellowship and Alumni Programs – 20%
- Provide database support (updating contacts, creating targeted lists, running reports) directly for the Director of Fellowship and Alumni Programs
- Arrange limited international travel, including visa applications and airline and hotel reservations
- Provide other administrative support as needed
Requirements

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Commitment to social justice and Echoing Green’s mission required
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial spirit and deep intellectual curiosity. College degree and at least 2 years of work experience, or a High School degree and at least 4 years of work experience.
This is a full-time position based in New York City. Echoing Green offers a competitive compensation package, with benefits, commensurate with experience. Start date is June 2013.
